I drove to work knowing I would not have enough gas to drive home that day. These last few months have been financially painful for me, as I am sure it has been for the rest of the world. Maybe there are others who have had to look at an empty gas tank or an empty pocket book and wonder," How am I gonna drive home?".
After work I tore apart the car, searching for any change possible, anywhere! I began crying as I stacked the pennies and nickels in my hand, knowing I would likely not find much more. The total I found $1.85. Gas however was $2.95 a gallon, and I had to drive 17 miles, so I knew I might not make the trip back home.
As I drove down the street' with only fumes in my gas tank', I prayed in my heart that God would in some way, help me make it home.
I walked up to the gas attendant and requested a Pre-pay of $1.85. And as you know, when you pre-pay they unlock the tank for EXACTLY that amount. I placed the gas pump in the hole, and set it to run automatic. I began cleaning out my car, and wiping the seat off.
When I turned around, I realized franitcally the pump had flown past $1.85, and stopped at $7.00. I started to panic, and looked at the gas attendant in the window( because I had nothing to pay for the mistake they made). But what I saw was a smile on the attendant's face, a wave, and a wink. As I waved back, my eyes filled with tears, my heart swelled with gratitude. God heard my plea. This wonderful person, for whatever unselfish reason, gave me a small gift, a small miracle.
I am grateful for all earthly angels. I someday hope to return that favor to someone else in need.
